Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports PBIS

To help establish routines, we have been implementing our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) system. PBIS is a systems approach to establish a positive, predictable, safe and consistent school-wide culture. Teachers and staff have been teaching a common language and behavioral expectations to our students. We have three school-wide expectations at Steindorf:
  • We are caring and respectful.
  • We are responsible decision makers.
  • We are problem solvers.
When caught following the rules, individual students will be given a Steindorf Shield by a caring adult. The shields are collected throughout the week. Each one counts toward a marble. The marbles are collected in a marble jar. When the jar is full the grade level will choose a reward. This is reinforcing that each child’s individual behavior is appreciated and contributes positively to our school community. We announce and celebrate students each week during our Wednesday morning assembly. We are so proud of the students and the choices they are making here at school. Thank you for reinforcing our expectations here on campus and through discussions at home.
